गोकुल उत्तर प्रदेश के मथुरा जनपद में स्थित ब्रजभूमि का एक अत्यंत पावन एवं दिव्य तीर्थ है। यह मथुरा से लगभग 15 किलोमीटर दक्षिण-पूर्व दिशा में पवित्र यमुना नदी के तट पर स्थित है। गोकुल को भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की बाल लीलाओं की प्रथम कर्मभूमि माना जाता है, जहाँ उन्होंने अपने पालन-पोषण के दौरान अनेक अलौकिक एवं मनोहारी बाल-चरित्रों का प्रदर्शन किया। आज भी यह स्थान करोड़ों श्रद्धालुओं के लिए श्रद्धा, भक्ति और प्रेम का प्रमुख केन्द्र है।

गोकुल का आध्यात्मिक महत्व

सनातन धर्म के अनुसार, भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के जन्म के पश्चात् उनके पिता वसुदेव जी उन्हें अत्याचारी राजा कंस से सुरक्षित रखने के लिए यमुना नदी पार कर गोकुल लेकर आए। यहाँ उनका पालन-पोषण नन्द बाबा एवं माता यशोदा ने अपने पुत्र के समान किया।

गोकुल भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की असंख्य बाल लीलाओं का साक्षी रहा है। यहीं उन्होंने माखन-चोरी, गोचारण, गोप-बालकों के साथ क्रीड़ा तथा अनेक असुरों का संहार कर अपने दिव्य स्वरूप का परिचय दिया। इन लीलाओं का स्मरण आज भी भक्तों के हृदय में प्रेम, वात्सल्य और भक्ति का संचार करता है।

गोकुल के प्रमुख दर्शनीय स्थल

 

1. रमण रेती

रमण रेती वह पवित्र स्थल है जहाँ भगवान श्रीकृष्ण अपने बड़े भ्राता बलराम एवं ग्वाल-बालों के साथ खेला करते थे। यहाँ की पवित्र रज (रेती) को अत्यंत दिव्य माना जाता है। श्रद्धालु इस रज में लोटकर भगवान की कृपा एवं आध्यात्मिक आशीर्वाद प्राप्त करने का भाव रखते हैं।

2. नवमोहन कृष्ण मंदिर

वैष्णव परम्परा के 108 दिव्य देशमों में प्रतिष्ठित यह प्राचीन मंदिर भगवान श्रीकृष्ण को समर्पित है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि इसी क्षेत्र में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने कालिय नाग का दमन कर यमुना को विषमुक्त किया तथा दिव्य नृत्य किया।

3. चौरासी खम्भा मंदिर

यह प्राचीन एवं ऐतिहासिक मंदिर अपनी अद्भुत स्थापत्य कला और 84 विशाल स्तम्भों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। लोकमान्यता के अनुसार इसका निर्माण देवशिल्पी भगवान विश्वकर्मा ने एक ही रात्रि में किया था।

4. महाप्रभु श्रीवल्लभाचार्य जी की बैठक

यह स्थान पुष्टिमार्ग के प्रवर्तक महाप्रभु श्रीवल्लभाचार्य जी की दिव्य बैठकों में से एक है। माना जाता है कि यहाँ उन्होंने श्रीमद्भागवत महापुराण का दिव्य प्रवचन किया तथा अनेक भक्तों को भक्ति मार्ग का उपदेश दिया।

प्रमुख पर्व एवं उत्सव

 

1. श्रीकृष्ण जन्माष्टमी

गोकुल में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण का जन्मोत्सव अत्यंत श्रद्धा एवं उल्लास के साथ मनाया जाता है। इस अवसर पर मंदिरों को भव्य रूप से सजाया जाता है तथा भजन, संकीर्तन, झाँकियाँ एवं भगवान की बाल लीलाओं का मंचन किया जाता है।

2. गोकुलाष्टमी

गोकुल का यह विशेष उत्सव भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के गोकुल आगमन की स्मृति में मनाया जाता है। इस दिन विशेष पूजा-अर्चना, अभिषेक, झूला उत्सव एवं सामूहिक धार्मिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाते हैं।

3. ब्रज की होली

गोकुल की होली भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की बाल एवं किशोर लीलाओं की मधुर स्मृतियों से जुड़ी हुई है। यहाँ रंग, गुलाल, भजन, संकीर्तन एवं पारम्परिक लोकनृत्यों के साथ होली का उत्सव अत्यंत उल्लासपूर्वक मनाया जाता है।

 

Gokul

The town is renowned for the numerous "Bala Leelas" (childhood pastimes) of Krishna, including his playful mischiefs and divine acts that are celebrated by devotees worldwide.

Notable Temples and Sacred Sites

1. Raman Reti: A sacred sand area where it is believed that young Krishna played with his brother Balarama and other cowherd friends. Devotees often roll in the sand here, seeking spiritual blessings.

2. Navamohana Krishna Temple: Recognized as one of the 108 Divya Desams, this temple is dedicated to Krishna and is revered in the Vaishnavite tradition. It is believed to be the site where Krishna performed the divine dance over the serpent Kaliya.

3. Chaurasi Khamba Temple (84 Pillars Temple): A historic temple known for its architectural beauty and the legend that it was built overnight by Vishwakarma, the divine architect.

4. Baithakji of Mahaprabhu Shrimad Vallabhacharya: Significant sites where Vallabhacharya, the founder of the Pushtimarg sect, is believed to have recited the Shrimad Bhagavatam.

1. Janmashtami: Celebrated with great fervor, marking the birth of Lord Krishna. The festivities include devotional singing, dancing, and reenactments of Krishna's childhood activities.

2. Gokulashtami: Specific to Gokul, this festival commemorates Krishna's arrival in the town and is observed with special rituals and community celebrations.

3. Holi: The festival of colors is celebrated uniquely in Gokul, reflecting the playful nature of Krishna, with traditional songs and dances.
